Being a niche recruiter, you speak to dozens, if not hundreds of people in a week. Whether it be candidates or clients, a lot of individuals are frustrated, exhausted, or worst of all, suffering from job burnout.
With lockdown, and many of our homes becoming our new offices, burnout has become a major issue both for employers and employees.
The Road to Job Burnout Recovery
Job burnout is hard to notice at first. It's said you know it is coming when you don’t know why you’re frustrated at work, but you just are. Maybe it’s the reason employees working in a toxic environment reach burn out phase before they notice. It’s easy to pass it off as another problem. The problem might be one that potentially might be resolved if another person is hired or that automation they’ve been promising is brought in. Spotting burn out though is a problem of its own.
Stress Release
If you feel like the time you are spending at work is frustrate you – even if there might be a perfectly good reason – you need a way to release stress build-up. Some people use martial arts training to do this. Colleagues here often hit the gym, play football, spend hours playing video games or have a creative hobby such as painting.
It is important to note that whatever method you choose needs to actually work for you. It’s all about finding your own thing that you can rely on. The goal is to feel better and calmer after doing it!

Stress release won’t fix a burnout; it just helps you with the journey stopping little things from becoming big problems.
Try talking with a friend! Having an open conversation about your frustrations. Just letting them out can be so effective. The real take away from these talks is another perspective. Do they think there’s a real problem at work? Or do they think the problem is your work, as a whole?
Hearing someone you trust tell you that you’re not overreacting and the thing that’s irritating you is a real problem can genuinely help.
Check Your Sleep Levels
People suffering burnout often stay up far too late before going to sleep despite having an early start. In China, this is called ‘Revenge Bedtime Procrastination’. The theory is that the longer you stay up allows you to assert control over the free time that you do have. This is because the time you spend at work is something you feel powerless over.
The trouble is that your next day is still stressful – but now you’re tired.
Getting enough sleep won’t turn things around instantly but making good sleep a habit can give you a much more positive outlook over time.
Change Jobs
Ultimately, the solution to your job burnout might be to find a new job. A new job presents you with a new challenge, something different in your day, and a way of removing the workplace stress contributing to your burnout.
